As I would watch from afar, I was captivated by those unique looking Yoga poses or should I say those strange physical movements. I was even more intrigued with the arm balancing and standing upside-down. It was challenging and invigorating! I was all in when it came to learning to do that. “Yoga ON THE MAT!”
Another thing that always interested me was being health conscious and growing gracefully through life. I believed Yoga’s form of movements would be the perfect tool and avenue for me. Without hesitation, I was really enthusiastic about helping others which led me to teach Yoga classes.
Dialogue with my Instructor:
(My Teacher) Linda, you are too physical... Come to Philosophy!
(Me) I don’t understand, I don't get it…
(My Teacher) I don’t care. You come, Sit, and Listen! I will see you in the next class!
So, I did exactly as I was told. Even-though I joined Yoga to challenge myself in these Hatha forms, eventually it began to make sense. Through many hours of listening to my teacher as she passed on the knowledge, I am now living a well-balanced Yogi life, but just like anything else in life, you have to stay on top of it to keep practicing the balance.
Indeed, this subtle side of Yoga has definitely been a game changer in my life. I’ve learned so much about myself, especially who I am on the inside (self-awareness). Just like William Shakespeare quoted: “To Thy Own Self Be True.”
